NURTURING AND CARING STAFF
It is the staff that make Torwood a supreme choice of childcare and pre-school education for your child. Parents, existing staff and independent observers describe our staff as ‘experts’ that use their knowledge and understanding of how children learn to respond intuitively to promote children’s learning.
Our staff really do go that extra mile, they are the epitome of conscientious and brilliantly creative childcarers that you would want to look after your child. Committed to not only on-going professional development, they are a vibrant team and their enthusiasm and innovative approaches are evident throughout their delivery, day after day of the Early Years curriculum.
TRANSITIONS
From birth to the age of 5, are grouped together by age and developmental stage throughout their time at our Nursery. Transitions between groups through the Nursery years are handled sensitively.
We strengthen our staff team with specialists both from outside and across the education provision of our other settings and this includes a Qualified Early Years Teacher to support the older children, prior to joining primary education.
PARENTS WELCOME
Our parents are always welcome, in fact we actively encourage parents and carers to come and talk through your child’s progress. Many of our current parents see Torwood and the team as an integral part of their family support network, which is a real honour!
We have a diverse number of families who currently have children attending the nursery and therefore celebrate a variety of festivals which the children and the staff thoroughly enjoy! We embrace cultural differences and have specifically themed days too.
RATED 'GOOD' BY OFSTED
Our last Ofsted inspection took place in June 2024; when we received the rating of ‘GOOD’ in all areas. Ofsted state 'Staff are very attentive to babies' and children's care needs, following their home routines thoughtfully to ensure their well-being remains high'.
Our dedicated team of staff headed by our manager Jenine Cable continue to strive for the very best for every child, everyday.

"Staff promote a strong two-way flow of information with parents through daily chats, entries in the nursery's online system and during regular parents' meetings. Thoughtful resources bags are offered to help parents support their children through 'life events', such as the arrival of a new sibling. Parents say that staff are 'dedicated', 'incredibly patient' and 'friendly', and that they are very thankful for the level of care and support that their children receive at the nursery."
